Meet Marie
Working with children is something that brings me joy and a feeling of giving back. Children are our future and setting them up for success is something I want to be a part of. I also feel strongly about contributing to the well-being of children. I sadly lost a son when he was 15, and I appreciate all the people who helped care for and nurture him along his journey. I want to do the same for others.
I grew up in Nova Scotia’s beautiful Annapolis Valley. After living in New Brunswick for two years, Ontario for 9 years, and then the United States for 9 years, we have settled back in Nova Scotia. I completed my bachelor of science at University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. I stayed at home to look after our children when they were young (including caring for our special needs son). I now have two grown children living away from home.
In my free time, I enjoy travelling to visit them and spending time with my family and friends.
What I love about this job, is that I get to work one-on-one with children. I get to see reading and math successes before my eyes. Seeing a child’s eyes light up when they read a word they couldn’t read before, or hear them read passages fluently is rewarding. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work alongside your child and help them see reading and math in a new way.
